What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using the ELP with my groups?

WHICH TRAINING COURSES WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE ACCESS TO AS A TEACHER? WHY? WHICH IS, IN YOUR OPINION, THE BEST WAY TO SHARE GOOD PRACTICE AMONGST TEACHING PROFESSIONALS? WHY?

The priority of a teacher is to prepare students to cope with the demands of the actual society. Their function focuses on informing, guiding, motivating and preparing students for their better integration into the world around them. For this reason, the teacher should consider their training as one of the of key conditions in their educational work, to achieve this requires the realization of training courses to update their knowledge and contact with new technologies and the latest didactic resources.

As a teacher, I think are very important the courses on new information and communications technology (ICT) as children are actually very imposed in all these techniques and it is essential that a teacher is upgraded and informed to motivate them and facilitate student learning.

On the other hand, I also consider important to make courses of arts and music education that not only help the students, facilitating their learning but also develop in them a love of the arts and allows them to develop their skills.

Of course I consider important a course on the game as a teaching resource because not everything has to be based on new technologies and play in children is very important because besides being an ideal resource for children to be integrated into the classroom, also promotes companionship, learning to work together, to respect and to achieve a goal.

We shouldn´t forget the importance of realize courses to help us detect and diagnose learning difficulties of the child and to provide us appropriate for the child to overcome those difficulties tools.

Particularly I think a teacher should be in continuous learning and everything that will help develop their educational work is very important.

Our work is not only to impart knowledge, but to transmit knowledge, to know capture the attention of children and make the learning process enjoyable.

In my opinion, I think that teachers should make training courses because it is a good way to share educational practices and provide interesting and effective ideas. 

TRAINING COURSES AND TEACHING PROFESSIONALS 

Which training courses would you like to have access to as a teacher? Why? Which is, in your opinion, the best way to share good practice amongst teaching professionals? Why?

I think these questions are very important with regard to my teaching work.

Actually it is important to follow the evolution of our society because every day there is something new invented, if we want to prepare our students to be able to function in our world, we as teachers have to be up date and know everything about those changes.

To answer the first question, I can almost say that we are lucky because we can take courses about many topics.

Furthermore, to teach properly our students we have to be prepared and for this reason I would like make training courses that are related to new methodologies where I teach practical way to carry it out in the classroom. It is also important advise you on where to find resources to the most attractive for children.

For example, methodology ITC course is very interesting because it can be a positive tool for students learning and for me because it is important for me know new materials and resources.

In my opinion I think the best way to share good practice amongst teaching professionals it is using the computer and internet because we can quickly share anything and in any kind of formant with the students and of course with the students family.

Finally I would like to say that it is also important that teachers learn new techniques and 

skills because after all the key to the success of the education system is in our hands. 

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using the ELP with my groups?

The European Language Portfolio can be a very useful tool, for this reason I would like to talk about their advantages and disadvantages, but before that, I will take make a brief summary of which is the European Language Portfolio (ELP).

The European Language Portfolio (ELP), is a personal document of a learner. In this document learners of all ages can record their language learning and cultural experience at school or outside school. It helps to:

• Improve language learning and the capacity for self-assessment
• Facilitate mobility in Europe by means of a clear description of linguistic competences
• Favour understanding and tolerance

It is also important to know that he has 3 parts:

• Language passport. He gives the basic information about portfolio using his or her language skills (reading, speaking, writing and listening)
• Biography. Reflects the language-acquisition process. Which languages are spoken (family, teacher, foreign languages) and how long.
• Dossier. Writing pieces, essays… confirm the proficiency levels of his/her owner.

On the other hand, teachers can benefit from using the ELP in the classroom with their students by building on two functions of the tool: the pedagogic function and the informative function.

The pedagogical function is characterized by: transparency in the learning process, develops reflection and self-assessment, responsibility for their own learning, students practise their 4 skills and are immersed in the language they’re learning, detect problems and discrepancies, helps student recognize their learning styles, set learning goals monitor progress formative than summative.

The informative function, completes in information provided by official diplomas, facilitates mobility, provides extra information and, also, it is a guide for the next teacher.

In my opinion, the only disadvantage is that some teachers have find it difficult about the levels and descriptors because the communicative behaviour in which one learner group can vary from another.

For all this, my conclusion about the European Language Portfolio, is a very positive and effective tool because the children can evaluate their own learning so this motivate them because helps them to record their personal language experience, also see their evolution and achieve personal goals.
